Kaagaz Ke Fools is a 2015 Indian comedy film directed by Anil Kumar Chaudhary and produced by Faisal Kapadia and Arun Bhairav under the Globe Filmy Entertainment banner. The film was released on 24 April 2015. [1]

The film revolves around a middle-class family and touches upon the issue of lack of good novel writers. The film stars Vinay Pathak as Purushottam Tripathi, a struggling writer who refuses to compromise on his artistic integrity. His marriage to Veena (Mugdha Godse) is on the rocks, due to her wealthy family seeing filmmaking as a job lacking in social status. He is also denied access to his daughter, Pammi (Kumari Naaz), who is sent to a private boarding school in Dehradun. [2]
On a rainy night, Sinha meets a woman, Shanti (Raima Sen), and gives her his coat. She comes to the film studio to return the coat, unintentionally disrupting the shooting by walking in front of the camera. While reviewing the rushes, Sinha recognises her potential as a star and casts her as Paro in Devdas. Shanti goes on to become a rage and an acclaimed star. Shanti and Suresh, two lonely people, come together. Their liaison is hotly debated in gossip columns and results in Pammi's friends tormenting her in school. Pammi pleads with Shanti to leave Sinha's life and allow her parents' marriage another chance. Moved by Pammi's plea, Shanti throws away her career and becomes a school teacher in a small village. Losing custody of Pammi, along with Shanti's departure from films, drives Suresh to alcohol. This marks the beginning of his downfall, both personally and professionally, in his career and consequent decline in his fortunes. Meanwhile, Shanti is forced to return to films since she has a contract with the studio. Her producer agrees to hire Suresh because of Shanti, but Suresh's self-respect will not let him return and owe his job to Shanti's star status; so she is unable to help him, as he is too far gone for redemption. Kaagaz Ke Fools received generally negative reviews from critics. The film is one of the worst movies of 2015. Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express stated, "You keep wanting this film to ho ja shuru, but Kaagaz Ke Fools doesn't have the feet for it." [4] Sushmita Murthy of Deccan Chronicle gave the film 1/5 stars and stated, "The name of the film leads you to believe that Kaagaz ke Fools is a comedy, but it is at best, an attempt at it with rather painful results." [5] Shubha Shetty-Saha of Mid-Day giving the same ratings stated, "The 1959 Guru Dutt classic 'Kaagaz Ke Phool' was so ahead of its time that it tanked at the Box Office, and later got elevated to world cult classic status. Ironically, and perhaps reflecting the sad state of Bollywoods growth, in 2015 we get a film titled 'Kaagaz ke Fools', which is so regressive and dated that it just might have made some sense back in the 50s. Well, if nothing, the film makes us painfully aware of the difference between a phool and a fool." [6]
The soundtrack for the album was composed by Sangeeta Pant and lyrics were penned by Sangeeta Pant and Ravi Basnet. The songs are: "Lafda Pai Gaya" by Tochi Raina, "Nasha" by Sangeeta Pant, and "Sharari Rampaa" by Shaan and Sangeeta Pant. [7]
