Laila Majnu Love Story in Malayalam PDF

Laila Majnu is a classic love story that originated in the Arabian culture and was later adapted into Persian, Turkish, Indian and other languages. It is based on the real-life romance of Qays ibn al-Mulawwah and Layla bint Mahdi, who lived in the 7th century. Qays and Layla fell in love as children, but when they grew up, Layla's father refused to let them marry. Qays became obsessed with her and was nicknamed Majnun (meaning "madman" or "possessed by jinn"). His tribe and society mocked him for his unrequited love. He wandered the desert, composing verses in praise of Layla. He eventually died of grief and was buried next to Layla, who had also died of a broken heart.

The story of Laila Majnu was popularized by the Persian poet Nizami Ganjavi, who wrote a narrative poem about them as the third part of his Khamsa in 584/1188 . He collected various sources and legends about the lovers and portrayed them as the epitome of true and spiritual love. He also added mystical and allegorical elements to the story, making it a masterpiece of Persian literature. Many other Persian poets followed Nizami and wrote their own versions of the story, often imitating his style and themes. Some of the notable adaptations are by Amir Khusrow Dehlavi (completed in 1299), Jami (completed in 1484), Maktabi Shirazi, Hatefi (died 1520) and Fuzuli (died 1556). The story also spread to Ottoman Turkey and India, where it inspired many works of art, music and literature.
